Windows Vista Home Premium

Windows Vista Home Premium is the ideal edition for home desktop and mobile PCs. It provides a breakthrough design that brings your world into sharper focus while delivering the productivity, entertainment and security you need from your PC - at home or on the go.

Windows Vista Home Premium includes Windows Media® Centre, making it easier to enjoy your photos, music, TV and movies. Plus, you'll have the peace of mind of knowing your PC has a whole new level of security and reliability. All together, Windows Vista Home Premium redefines enjoyment in home computing.

It starts with a breakthrough design that makes your PC easier to use. With the Windows Aero interface, you'll experience smooth-gliding animations, transparent glass-like menu bars, and the ability to switch between your open windows in 3D. Instant desktop search capabilities, and new ways to organise your information, mean you can find and use emails, documents, photos, music and any other information you want in seconds.

Windows Vista Home Premium protects your personal information, your PC and your family computing experience more securely than previous versions of Windows. For example, Windows Internet Explorer® 7 in Windows Vista Home Premium includes automated defences against malicious software and fraudulent websites, so you can go online more safely. Windows Vista Home Premium also enables automatic file backup, protecting your valuable photos, music, movies and documents, so you can relax and focus on the things you care about most. And, by using the built-in parental controls, parents can help ensure their children’s computer use is appropriate and protected.

And what about fun? Windows Vista Home Premium dramatically enhances the digital entertainment experience. Windows Media Centre makes it easier to organise and enjoy photos, music, DVDs, recorded TV and home movies. You can even wirelessly network an Xbox to your PC, and see your desktop on your TV screen. Windows Vista Home Premium makes it easier to burn your photo slide shows and home movies to professional-looking DVDs that your friends and family can enjoy whenever they like. And with unbeatable support for gaming and music, Windows Vista Home Premium delivers a complete home entertainment experience.

If you want your PC to keep up while you're on the go, you'll appreciate how Windows Vista Home Premium helps you get the most from your mobile PC. It includes simplified power management, easier wireless networking, and streamlined synchronisation with other mobile devices. You can even draw and write by hand on a Tablet PC, and enjoy all your entertainment via Windows Media Centre when you're on the move.

Finally, Windows Vista Home Premium makes it easier than ever to set up and maintain your new PC.  Advanced features make it straightforward to transfer  the data and settings from your old PC to your new one, and enhanced system management helps keep your new PC running quickly and reliably.

So whether you're balancing your chequebook, studying for school, watching a movie or sharing your photos with friends, Windows Vista Home Premium takes home computing to a whole new level.

The three most common ways to buy Microsoft software are:

  • Pre-installed on a PC, laptop or other smart device: also known as OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)

This is usually the least expensive way to buy software. You would normally choose pre-installed software when you are buying new PCs or laptops. If you buy pre-installed software, you don’t sign a licensing agreement or have a direct relationship with Microsoft: we would be your first port of call for support. Pre-installed software can be very cost effective, but just like an airline ticket, the cost saving comes with certain restrictions. As an end user you should only buy OEM software that is pre-installed on a PC, laptop or similar device. OEM software is intended only for companies building PCs, and these companies retain responsibility for software support once the PC is sold to the end user.

  • As boxed software: also known as FPP (Full Packaged Product)

This is the ideal option if you are only buying a small number of licences. Like a business class airline ticket, it often costs more than pre-installed software, but is much more flexible. Certain boxed software customers can get free ‘warranty’ support through Microsoft’s support hotline. If you are buying more than five licences, you should consider a Volume Licensing programme, as it is likely to offer you better value. (Please note the qualifying threshold is five licences not five PCs, so you might easily be eligible for Volume Licensing with only two PCs.)

  • Through a Volume Licensing programme: these programmes offer discounts when you buy five or more licences

You should choose Volume Licensing if you’re buying more than five licences. There are a range of agreements available that cater for different types and sizes of business, and which last for varying periods – typically two or three years. Volume Licensing generally offers the best value for money for even the smallest organisations. Please call us on or email for a quote tailored to your specific requirements.
